The three pillars
1. Protecting products with the right tag
Nedap focuses retailers on the 20% of items that drive 80% of the loss, then matches tag or label type to the products physical characteristics — frozen, chilled, curved, metallic, small footprint. Tag application can happen at source (preferred, scales globally), in the distribution centre, or in-store.
2. Smooth deactivation at the checkout
100% deactivation rate is the design objective. The Smart Deactivators detect-mode design only fires on a live label and tunes the burst to the labels exact frequency, which Nedap pairs with their own 100%-tested labels to achieve a high first-pass deactivation rate. Inferior deactivation drives false alarms — which then erodes staff trust in the gate.
3. Validation at the gate
The iSenseGo / i-Line / Lumen gate is the final check. Paid items shouldn alarm; unpaid items should. This depends on label quality AND deactivation quality being right — if either pillar fails, the gate becomes a source of false alarms instead of a source of legitimate alerts.
Dual-technology bridge to RFID
AM/RFID hard tags
Dual-frequency hard tags that work with both legacy 58 kHz AM EAS systems and modern RAIN RFID readers. Useful when a retailer is migrating from a Sensormatic AM platform to RFID but cannot replace all gates or all tags at once — the same tag protects the merchandise across both system generations during the transition.
RF/RFID hard tags and labels
Dual-frequency tags and labels that work with both 8.2 MHz RF EAS systems (Nedap iSenseGo, Checkpoint) and RAIN RFID readers. Same migration logic — single tag protects merchandise across an RF-to-RFID transition without ripping out the legacy gates.
Compatibility
Nedaps RF labels run at the same 8.2 MHz as Checkpoint RF, so RF labels are interoperable with Checkpoint gates. The AM/RFID dual hard tags are intended specifically for retailers who already run 58 kHz AM gates (typically Sensormatic) and want to layer in RFID without replacing the gate — the AM frequency keeps the existing gate working, the RFID layer enables item-level visibility and migration. The RF/RFID dual variants follow the same pattern for 8.2 MHz RF retailers. None of these are sold direct — all of it ships through Nedaps Loss Prevention Partner network. For comparable dual RF/RFID hard tags available through RSG, see Alphas RFID-enabled hard-tag line.
