WG EAS Overhead System

WG · ceiling-mount RFID EAS · no pedestals, no floor cuts

RFID-powered EAS detection from a ceiling-mounted antenna — the closest WG comes to a fully invisible alternative for malls that prohibit pedestals and floor cuts. Identifies hard tags and flat labels up to 3 m (about 9 ft) below the antenna. Designed around the practical pushback retailers are getting from mall landlords against bulky entrance hardware and costly floor modifications.

Overview

Ceiling-mount RFID alternative to pedestal-based EAS.

Increasingly, mall landlords and luxury retailers won't accept floor-mounted pedestals or in-floor antennas at all. WG's Overhead System answers that constraint with a ceiling-mounted RFID antenna that reads tags from up to 3 meters away. The compromise is technology and tag selection — this is an RFID system, so it works with WG's RFID-enabled hard tags and flat labels rather than the standard 58 kHz AM range — but the visual footprint is essentially nil and the install cost is dramatically lower than the pedestal alternative.

Features

  • No pedestals, no floor cuts — meets mall fit-out restrictions
  • 3 m (9 ft) detection range for RFID-tagged hard tags and labels
  • Low installation cost versus pedestal or in-floor alternatives
  • Zero false alarms per WG marketing
  • 3-year warranty on all parts
  • RFID-tagged hard tags and flat labels supported

Compatibility

Built around RFID, not 58 kHz AM — so this system pairs with WG's RFID-enabled hard tags and flat labels rather than the standard AM tag families. WG offers free testing to qualifying retailers, which is the usual indicator that performance is environment-dependent and the vendor wants a site visit before committing.
